Yo, N3MWM
, the speed limit on I-90 in Minnesota is 70 MPH. You obviously don’t care about others on the road.
Being a member of various Pi-Star support mediums, I see all kinds of questions. Some good, some really bad and rudimentary.
But some questions are off the charts stupid.
As a follow-up to my Hams Using Slashed-Ohs Suck article, I recently ran into a potentially bad use-case, further reinforcing my point, that hams who improperly use them in their call signs as zeros, suck ass.
Myself as a ham, I’m connected to myriad support mediums, forums, groups, mailing lists, etc. It amazes me how much hams, give other hams bad advice, when problem-solving.
I’m going to put this right out there for you hams giving terrible advice: you suck, and you are not helping.
Come on, “hams”…please use meaningful talker aliases on DMR.
You’re a DMR user and “what is a Talker Alias”, you ask? Figures… 😡
With the advent of DMR/YSF/D-Star/etc. networks being online and the resulting wonderful hotspots, there has been an onslaught of turnkey, ready-to-use hotspots hitting the market over the past few years. One of the new hot new players in hotspots, is the BridgeCom SkyBridge. The price? Just shy of $300.
That is quite a bit of coin, yes. And the hams out there complaining about the price is absolutely overwhelming.
For the love of fuck, stop referring to standards as trade names.

Go ahead…try to type Ø on your computer instantly. I’ll wait. Yeah…no. Not happening.
I see many hams using this special character in their call signs when denoting
a zero numeral, Guess what? it’s not a numeral, geniuses… It’s actually a
letter (Unicode U+00D8
).
